The HD Doctor for Maxtor is a newly released most advanced
hardware-software combined solution for data recovery needs
towards Maxtor HDD, with dozens of powerful functions of

for Maxtor operates on the HDD service area (SA) using PCHS
(Physical Cylinder Head Sector) method other than the
traditional UBA method, which fully enhances the success
rate of your data recovery and refurbishment towards Maxtor
hard drives. The most breakthrough is, unlike the original
Maxtor program runs on DOS, with the HD Doctor console, this
new Maxtor solution can be easily installed on any
desktop/laptop/server computer via USB (USB protocol 1.1 or
above) socket and runs on Microsoft® Windows® 98/2000/XP.

4D, 4G, 4R, 4W, 5X, 6B, 6E, 6G, 6H, 6L, 6V, 6Y, 7B, 8X, 9X
(8X and 9X are old models of Maxtor). What’s more, we

2. * With our leading technology, HD Doctor for Maxtor
pioneers to read/write on SA in PCHS (Physical Cylinder Head
Sector) method, which will lead to a higher success rate
compared with the routine UBA. For example, there are cases
that you failed in read/write towards SA in UBA method, most
of the times you will get it done by using PCHS (Physical
Cylinder Head Sector) method. This new tech will double your

drives, even if they have multiple HEAD structure, there
will be only one HEAD contains firmware, the primary HEAD is
the HEAD contains the firmware of the hard drive.) function.
That means when the primary HEAD of a drive is damaged and
no longer functioning, HD Doctor for Maxtor enables you to
define another HEAD as the primary HEAD, so that you can
have your data recovered and your drive repaired. It will

7. * Section Operations. Enables you to scan for bad sectors
on specific section of the hard drive, therefore it can
guide you for exact Depop Section or Depop HEAD operations.
8. * The SA Low-level Format, Defect Scan and Add U-List
(defect list for storing SA bad sectors) functions. Enables
you to repair bad sectors locate in SA (beginning sector,
sector 0, reserved sectors).

manually choose to BOOT the hard drive with all the BOOT

towards the SELFSCAN flow.
13. To view or empty all defect lists including G-List,
P-List and U-List. Transfer G-List to P-List. Automatically
generates a log file of the P-List and saves to your
computer each time you view P-List, with the log file you
can import the P-List records very easily, this function is
very useful in data recovery: Even when the P-List is gone
and the data is in totally confusion, as long as you have
the log file, you can then import the defect list back and
get your correct data back.
14. Rapidly scan the HD data area in LBA value method and
add any defect found into the factory level defect list –
the P-List.
15. * Rapidly read/write/verification towards the HD PCB
ROM.
16. Clear Password function. This function can easily remove
the password protection on access by HD itself or any other
third party encryption software, just by click one key.
17. Reset HD SMART function. This function can reset the HD
SMART value to its factory default value. Mainly used to HD
with SMART error or some situations when you need to have it
reset.
18. Motor ON and Motor OFF functions. To control the HD
motor ON/OFF manually, a necessary function for data
recovery by Hot Swap PCB method.
